Snow blower from electric motor?
I want to build a snow blower and I found some plans to build a snow blower from a horizontal shaft lawn mower engine, which I lack. So I went poking around to see if there was some way around that and I stumbled across some stuff about electric motors. So I got to thinking, is there a way to turn a washing machine motor, car starter motor, or some other cheap or easy to come by motor into a battery powered motor with enough power to throw some snow? If your curious about the blower itself, I found the plans here: http://www.vintageprojects.com/home-garden/snow-thrower.html Thank you for any help.

- This type of machinery is best left to the big boys I've found. There are lots of other projects out there waiting to get done.
- that's an interesting idea. I DON'T agree with the other answer that you should leave this type of thing to the big boys. Go on have some fun with it. Having said that, I'm not sure an electric snowblower would be practical. depending on how big you are making it, and how much snow you get, snow is heavy and takes a lot of power to move it. A motor of that size would take a lot of battery power, and that many batteries would be too big and heavy to mount on a small portable rig.
