how do u take the govonor off of a snowblower motor and where is it at?

it's 5 horspower snowblower motor...i wanta build a go kart for my lil bro he's 12 and he likes to go fast and all i got is a snow blower motor...how can i take the govoner off and is there any parts or things i can do that r cheap to make it go faster???

  1. First, don't take the governor off, this will effect the performance of the engine under load. Next is to find a centrifical clutch that will fit the engines shaft. As for speed, that is up to you to find pulley's that will work with the weight (of the cart+driver) and the power of the engine.
  2. Leave the governor alone,it keeps the parts on the inside of the motor from exiting in every direction ,as for fast,big gear on the motor little gear on the wheel.Strap yourselves in boys its going to be a bumpy ride.
